How to pay less in Road tax
As of 1 May 2009, Vehicle tax rates for cars registered on or after 1 March 2001 are now split into 13 bands based on their CO2 emissions. So the amount you will pay depends on which band your car is in. The lower a car’s emissions, the lower the vehicle tax payable on it. For instance, the stylish new Hyundai i10 has a low CO2 emission figure of just 119g/km, your road tax will only be £35 per year! Not bad when you consider that the lowest achievable rate for a car over 10 years old is £125 a year and that many come in at the higher rate of £190.
